چکیده

This study assessed the sustainability of two partition walls and intended to contribute Circular Economy in construction sector. A life cycle approach a multi-criteria decision support method were applied know environmental, functional, economic performances production process half-sandwich panels based on alkali-activated ceramic/slag waste cement, choosing as system boundary “cradle gate”. The proposed building solutions differ from each other type insulating material used, either extruded polystyrene foam (APXPS) or expanded cork agglomerate board (APICB). Besides, comparative analysis developed versus three reference constructive solutions: i) conventional heavyweight wall, ii) lightweight gypsum wall panel, iii) conceptual sandwich membrane solution was performed. Results showed that (APXPS APICB) resulted most sustainable alternatives, which APXPS obtained best overall results since it combined behavior. environmental contribution determined greatest burden Global Warming Potential (GWP), case associated with XPS (57%), being alkali activator (23%) placed second major contributor. When ICB used insulation layer, energy (nearly 38%) sodium silicate (about 17%) larger contributors CO2 emissions. It is worth mentioning use represented negative (of about −34%) GWP category.

static versus dynamic assessment of l2 learners’ reading ability

dynamic assessment according to vygotskys sociocultural theory, states that instruction and assessment are interrelated. using static forms of assessment with second and foreign language students could do more harm than good. many teachers neglect to take account of the complexity involved in learning a second or foreign language and often wonder why learning of a language take so long. thi...

Immobilization of phenol in cement-based solidified/stabilized hazardous wastes using regenerated activated carbon: leaching studies.

In this research, we investigated the use of an inexpensive thermally regenerated activated carbon as a pre-adsorbent in the solidification/stabilization of phenol-contaminated sand. Our results show that even the addition of very low amounts of regenerated activated carbon (1%-2% w/w sand) resulted in the rapid adsorption of phenol in the Chemical solidification/stabilization (S/S) matrix, wit...

Modal Strain Energy-Based Debonding Assessment of Sandwich Panels Using a Linear Approximation with Maximum Entropy

Sandwich structures are very attractive due to their high strength at a minimum weight, and, therefore, there has been a rapid increase in their applications. Nevertheless, these structures may present imperfect bonding or debonding between the skins and core as a result of manufacturing defects or impact loads, degrading their mechanical properties. To improve both the safety and functionality...

(Micro)-structural comparison between geopolymers, alkali-activated slag cement and Portland cement

Concurrently to research conducted on ordinary Portland cement (PC), new types of binders were developed during the last decades. These are formed by alkali-activation of metakaolin or ground-granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) and are named, respectively, geopolymers (GP) or alkali-activated slag (AAS). Four different cementitious materials were synthesised: PC, AAS, GP, and a mix GP-AAS and...

Environmental impact assessment and sustainability level determination in cement plants (Case study: Shahrood cement plant)

Focusing on environmental impact assessment as a new tool to determine the harmful effects of projects on the environment is very necessary. The establishment of cement plants in Iran is accompanied by huge investments that aim to create jobs and have others economic aspects; this trend is on the rise. However, cement plants contribute to environmental pollutions. Therefore, understanding the e...
